Open The Box Studio began with a simple thought: creativity can be a wonderful way to connect.
The idea came from Eileen, inspired by her experience as a foster carer and her desire to find meaningful ways to spend time with and engage the children in her care. She imagined a creative space where there was no pressure to get things “right” — just the freedom to choose, arrange, colour and create something of your own.
Eileen shared the idea with her friend Paula, a web developer with many years of experience creating things for the web. Paula loved the concept and began turning it into a real, interactive experience.
As Open The Box Studio developed, so did the idea behind it.
What began with foster children in mind soon became something much broader. Creativity doesn’t have an age limit, and the simple act of choosing images, arranging a page and colouring can offer a quiet moment away from the noise of everyday life.
We hope Open The Box Studio can be enjoyed by children and adults alike — whether that’s a child discovering their imagination, someone looking for a calming creative activity, or an older person or someone living with dementia enjoying the familiarity and gentle focus that art can bring.
